TRAVEL TO TALLINN

By air: Tallinn airport is served by Estonian Air, Air Baltic, Avies, Czech Airlines, EasyJet, Finnair, FlyBe, Lufthansa, Lot Polish Airlines, Norwegian, Ryanair, UTair.

Another option is to arrive via Riga airport, which is served by Aeroflot, Air Baltic, Austrian Airlines Group, Belavia, Czech Airlines, Finnair, Lot Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Norwegian, Ryanair, Transaero, Turkish Airlines, UTair, Uzbekistan Airways and Wizz Air.

By land: There is bus service between Riga and Tallinn served by LuxExpress, Ecolines and Businessline.

There is also bus service between St. Petersburg and Tallinn which is served by SEBE.

By sea: There is a ferry service between Helsinki and Tallinn, Stockholm and Tallinn, and St.Peterburg and Tallinn. More information about ship schedules is available here: http://www.portoftallinn.com/passenger-ship-schedules.

Helsinki–Tallinn line is served by Eckeröline, Viking Line and Tallink. A trip from Helsinki to Tallinn takes approximately 1,5 hours (about 3 hours by slower ferries).

Stockholm–Tallinn line is served by Tallink. A trip from Stockholm to Tallinn takes approximately 16 hours.

St.Peterburg–Tallinn line is served by St. Peterline. A trip from St. Peterburg to Tallinn takes approximately 14 hours.

VISAS

Nationals of the member states of the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA) and any third-country national who is a holder of a residence permit of a Schengen state do not need a visa to enter Estonia. If this does not apply to you, please check web of Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about possible restrictions and visa regulations.

WEATHER IN TALLINN

The weather in October is usually quite rainy. The average air temperature is around 5°C. You can check the weather forecast for Tallinn before arrival here.

MONEY

As of 1 January 2011, Estonia’s currency is Euro. Please note that in small shops, buses etc. it is advisable to use smaller banknotes than 50 EUR as there may not be enough return money for larger bills.

You can pay with VISA, VISA ELECTRON, MASTERCARD and MAESTRO in almost all shops, cafes and restaurants (but not in the bus).

ITIC and ISIC cards will give reductions in buses, as well as several bookshops and some cafes in Tallinn (notice the sign on the door!).
